Senior site bricklayer & working foreman

Job Description

Salary: £35,000 – £40,000

Location: Newton Abbot (projects within approx. 45-minute radius)

We are looking for a skilled and experienced Senior Site Bricklayer & Working Foreman to join Unicorn Construction. This role is ideal for someone confident across a wide range of masonry and groundwork disciplines, with the ability to lead and deliver high-quality work on site.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out all aspects of brickwork, blockwork, stone masonry and associated works, including:

Brick and block laying (including loading out and site clearance)

Fair-faced stone walling

Groundworks and preparation for hard landscaping

Patio and paving installation

Drainage, excavations and foundation preparation

Concreting of footings, slabs and oversites

• Work independently and as part of a team, taking ownership of your work
• Oversee, support and mentor junior bricklayers and apprentices
• Act as a key point of contact for client liaison where required
• Ensure materials are managed effectively to support efficient project delivery
• Work closely with other trades to ensure projects run smoothly
• Deliver work within agreed timescales and budget constraints
• Set out works accurately in line with drawings and specifications
• Maintain a clean, safe and organised site

What We’re Looking For

• Strong experience across brickwork, masonry and groundwork disciplines
• Previous experience in a supervisory or foreman role
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings
• High standards of workmanship and attention to detail
• Reliable, organised and proactive approach
