Overview
First Military Recruitment is seeking a Lecturer in Uniformed Services on behalf of our client.
The main purpose of the role is to ensure student retention and achievement through effective teaching and learning practices. The Lecturer will teach, develop, and enhance programs related to uniformed services, aligned with their knowledge, qualifications, and experience.
Applications from ex-military personnel are encouraged, but all candidates will be considered.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Contribute to outdoor activities, drill, residential activities, and maintain high discipline standards as part of the student experience.
2. Drive high standards in teaching and student discipline.
3. Teach subjects related to uniformed services, including NCFE Levels 1–5 and Higher National Diploma (HE).
4. Assist in the initiation, planning, and development of new courses in the uniformed services area.
5. Participate in open evenings and recruitment activities, providing accurate information and guidance.
6. Interview potential applicants and contribute to interview schedules.
7. Support the development and delivery of marketing and recruitment strategies.
8. Conduct student inductions and contribute to induction program design.
9. Perform academic progress reviews and complete necessary documentation.
10. Act as a tutor and liaise with Attendance Coordinators to ensure student attendance, retention, and achievement.
11. Stay informed about student support and learning arrangements, making appropriate referrals.
12. Ensure basic skills assessments are undertaken and students receive effective learning support.
13. Maintain up-to-date and accessible resources within your subject area.
14. Prepare students for employment, career progression, or further education.
15. Produce reports and attend events to communicate with parents, employers, and prospective students.
16. Contribute to enrichment programs, including work experience and volunteering.
17. Develop schemes of work, lesson plans, and resource materials.
18. Utilize IT and e-learning tools effectively in teaching.
19. Integrate English and Maths delivery and assessment into the curriculum as appropriate.
20. Ensure students attend and succeed in all aspects of their study programs, including Maths, English, and work experience.
21. Prepare assessment plans and communicate expectations to students.
22. Implement assessment and homework policies.
23. Attend meetings and college events as directed.
24. Maintain accurate records and documentation.
25. Collaborate with colleagues to support new staff members.
26. Gather student feedback on teaching quality.
27. Participate in program reviews and set achievement targets.
28. Engage in activities aimed at improving teaching and learning.
29. Keep skills current through self-study and professional development.
30. Participate in staff development programs.
