Description The Service & Team: The small, friendly, Cognition and Learning Team currently comprises a Lead Advisor, one full-time advisor and a part-time advisor. We work in partnership with schools and settings throughout the county providing high-quality advice and guidance for learners with cognition and learning needs of all ages and stages. We are part of the SEND Support Services and are involved in delivering training on broader SEND issues such as Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) Needs Assessments and The Graduated Response. We are also involved with system issues such as quality assurance and post-inspection work. We value Continual Professional Development (CPD) for our team members and work closely together to keep our skills up-to-date and relevant. The Role: This is a new and exciting role to meet the increasing numbers of requests for involvement of the team for children and young people with cognition and learning needs. The role is mainly based in Mid-Cornwall. The role holder will work in schools and settings alongside learners who have cognition and learning needs and the people who support them. They will provide high quality written advice as well as delivering training to a wide range of people including those in other teams. Positive partnership working is a key element of the role. This is a public/customer-facing role, where the statutory English language requirement for public sector workers applies. This position will be subject to an enhanced criminal record disclosure check. Working Pattern: The role is 1.0 FTE (37 hours per week). What you’ll need to succeed: You will be a qualified teacher with at least two years teaching experience. An interest in/experience of working with learners with SEND and in particular those with cognition and learning needs will support the role. You will be enthusiastic and passionate about supporting learners with SEND with children and young people at the centre of all you do!
