Contract Type: Permanent - Part Time About the role: We are currently seeking a Technician in Hair and Beauty to join our Hair and Beauty department at The Bedford College Group. As a Technician, you play an important role in the success of our students through: Technical & Salon Support - Provide hands-on technical assistance in salon areas, supporting lecturers and students by preparing equipment, maintaining workspaces, and ensuring smooth lesson delivery. Stock & Equipment Management - Oversee stock control, equipment servicing, and procurement processes, ensuring resources are available, secure, and within budget. Health, Safety & Compliance - Maintain a safe, clean salon environment by conducting risk and COSHH assessments, monitoring safety via Smartlog, and ensuring compliance with all regulations. Learner & Reception Support - Assist learners in achieving qualifications, manage salon reception duties when needed, and address student conduct in line with college procedures. Safeguarding & Development - Promote safeguarding, equality, and health and safety, while actively participating in training and professional development to support the role. About you: Qualifications & Industry Knowledge - Experience in the hair and beauty industry with up-to-date knowledge of treatments, health and safety practices, and a willingness to gain relevant qualifications including First Aid and Level 2 English and Maths if not already held. Technical & Organisational Skills - Skilled in maintaining, preparing, and repairing salon equipment, managing stock inventories, and ensuring safe use of electrical items in line with college proceduresProfessionalism & Communication - Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work independently, follow instructions, and maintain a professional, welcoming environment for students and clients.
