Our client seeks a Graduate Trainee to join their Actuarial department for an Actuarial Trainee position.
You must be willing to relocate to the Isle of Man to apply.
The role would suit a highly numerate graduate with a degree in a mathematical or related subject. As part of a small team, but with the ability to work independently, the applicant is expected to undertake tasks across various areas including pricing, product development, regulatory/internal reporting, and actuarial liability modelling. There will also be opportunities to contribute to the growth and development of the company through project work.
Key Responsibilities:
* Supporting external reporting by assisting in the production of valuations to appropriate standards and within agreed timescales.
* Supporting internal financial reporting, including experience investigations to appropriate standards and in line with agreed methodologies.
* Assisting with the development and maintenance of actuarial liability models, checking data extract routines, and maintaining documentation.
* Maintaining and developing illustration systems.
* Providing actuarial support to product development and pricing exercises.
* Supporting project work as required.
Key Skills and Experience:
* Honours degree (at least second class division 1) in a mathematical or related subject, with strong exam performance.
* Eligibility to join the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries as a student member (or equivalent), or already a member.
* Experience with Excel, including VBA, is beneficial.
* Strong analytical skills and attention to technical detail.
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
* Self-starter with initiative and the ability to ask for support when needed.
* Ability to write high-standard reports.
