An exciting and unique opportunity to take the lead of a well-established specialist planning led multi-disciplinary environmental consultancy operating as part of a wider, growth-focused group with a strong presence in the renewable energy sector.
My client is seeking a motivated, visionary Managing Director-level leader to build on the consultancy’s strong foundations, lead a highly successful business, and guide it through an ambitious next chapter of growth and evolution, while collaborating across the group to maximise opportunity and long-term value.
The Business
My client is a respected multi-disciplinary environmental consultancy with a strong track record in the delivery of UK & Irelandbased renewable energy projects, both onshore and offshore, including associated infrastructure. Now part of a larger group, the business retains its distinct identity, culture and specialist expertise, while benefiting from the scale, investment and collaborative opportunities that group ownership provides.
The Role
The Managing Director will have full responsibility for the leadership, performance and strategic direction of the consultancy. The role combines entrepreneurial autonomy with the opportunity to work closely with group leadership and sister companies to drive growth, capability and market presence.
Key responsibilities include:
* Leading and expanding a portfolio of UK onshore and offshore renewable projects, including associated grid and infrastructure developments
* Driving commercial performance, profitability and sustainable growth
* Acting as a senior figurehead with clients, consenting authorities and key stakeholders
* Collaborating with group companies to unlock cross-selling, joint delivery and strategic opportunities
* Developing talent, culture and leadership capability within the business
* Contributing to wider group strategy where appropriate
About You
My client is seeking a charismatic, credible leader with a strong understanding of the UK renewable energy market and the planning and consenting environment.
The ideal candidate will:
* Have a strong background in planning, Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA), or a closely related discipline
* Demonstrate proven experience working on UK-based renewable projects, onshore and/or offshore, including associated infrastructure
* Bring commercial acumen, strategic thinking and a passion for business growth
* Be comfortable operating at board level and representing the business externally
* Combine technical credibility with energy, presence and leadership gravitas
* A demonstrable connection to the UK renewables market — through project delivery, leadership or client relationships — will be a distinct advantage.
The Opportunity
* Senior leadership role with genuine autonomy and influence
* Opportunity to lead a specialist consultancy with the backing of a wider group
* Competitive salary with significant bonus, benefits and equity participation potential
* Flexible location with hybrid working and travel supported
* A leadership role at the forefront of the UK’s onshore and offshore renewable energy transition
* This role will suit an ambitious Managing Director or individual ready to step up to an MD role, seeking to combine entrepreneurial leadership with the platform, stability and opportunity of a group-owned business.
* I’m really keen to have someone who can have a considerable office presence as we are lacking day to day leadership on site.
Salary: £100,000 – £140,000 + significant bonus, benefits package & potential equity participation
