Main duties of the job

The physiotherapist will be expected to give full support to the Officer Commanding (OC) and Band 7 Physiotherapist within the Primary Care Rehabilitation Facility (PCRF) in ensuring the provision of a comprehensive and professional Physiotherapy/ Rehabilitation service for entitled personnel. This will include undertaking highly skilled and specialist work in the musculoskeletal/sports injuries area as well as being part of a multidisciplinary team providing rehabilitation to patients. The work will be primarily clinical but administrative and other professional activities will need to be undertaken as required.

Job responsibilities

Duties and responsibilities for the role include but arenot limited to:

* To communicate effectively with patients to ensure informed consent for assessment and treatment, good understanding of their conditions and maximise their rehabilitation potential. Patients may have barriers to communication e.g. English as their second language.
* To be responsible for the safe and competent use of all electrotherapy and gym equipment, patient appliances and aids and ensure that other members of the multi-disciplinary team attain competence prior to use. The identification and reporting of work service requirements and repair needs within the department.
* The clinical education, supervision and support of more junior colleagues and students, providing a positive work environment. Assisting with specialised assessments of more complex conditions and ensuring that caseloads are managed at an appropriate level.
* The provision of complex clinical reports to supply clinical prognoses and comprehensive discharge planning for both referring source and ongoing patient care under other health professionals.

The post does NOT offer relocation expenses (move of home, excess faresor temporary transfer). Non-Standard move applicants will be eligible forthe full package, subject to eligibility.

Qualifications

* Degree in Physiotherapy plus additional musculoskeletal specialist training or experience to post graduate diploma level or equivalent.
