An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Materials Engineer to work within the Quality and Integrity Management Department. In this role you will be responsible for providing materials engineering support both to the power generation assets and the wider business, including failure investigations, technical support, power plant component examination and R&D. This role contains ample opportunity for individuals to demonstrate creative problem-solving approaches in a field where numerous engineering subjects come together to deliver effective solutions.
Your responsibilities
* Lead and contribute to failure investigations of power plant components including high temperature high pressure vessels and piping, gas and steam turbines, wind turbines, etc. to determine root cause.
* Support in the development of corrective actions and preventative measures to mitigate future failures.
* Provision of advice on all aspects of materials, coatings, corrosion and, where appropriate, integrity/defect assessment.
* R&D including life extension of materials in existing power plants, advanced materials for new and next generation power plant including decarbonisation technologies.
* Ability to work collaboratively in a team orientated environment.
* Delivering accurate, detailed, and concise technical reports.
