Optos is committed to utilising the latest technology to manufacture new products and software that support optomap® as a world-class standard of care, helping eye care professionals around the world save sight and lives. \n\nJOB OVERVIEW\n\nWe are currently looking for a Graduate Apprentice - Operations to join our Quality Assurance department based in Dunfermline on a 4-year Fixed Term Contract. Working in the Quality Assurance team, the Graduate Apprentice will be involved in various projects and initiatives, designed to drive improvements in product quality. The Graduate Apprentice will develop a full understanding of all aspects of Operations Management including Manufacturing, New Product Introduction, Supply Chain, Quality Assurance and Regulatory Affairs throughout their apprenticeship. Whilst working at Optos, you will also be studying towards a BA(Hons) Business Management Degree at Robert Gordon University. The course is delivered in a blended manner with remote learning 1 day per week, and workplace based 4 days per week. WHAT SKILLS WILL I LEARN?\n\nThe Graduate Apprentice will spend time in each area of Operations gaining a deeper understanding of the business and the skills required to effectively manage projects, solve problems, and work cross functionally to ensure product quality is of the highest standard. \n\nCourse Content\n\nYear 1\n\nDeveloping knowledge and academic skills to identify and understand the business environment in which organisations operate, purposes, structures, functions, governance, law, core values and ethics, role of HR, introduction to financial and management accounting and application to business scenarios.\n\nYear 2\n\nWidening appreciation and analysis skills to determine scope of management operations, business development, marketing and sales, operational strategies, principles of procurement, significance of collaboration in supply chain management, key sources of finance, basic financial concepts, and applications to practical business situations.\n\nYear 3\n\nIncreasing abilities to critically analyse management practices: project management within organisations, purpose, tools and techniques, risk and compliance management, management of change, impact of models for organisational development, digital business and data analysis, principles of cybersecurity and management of IT systems.\n\nYear 4\n\nUndertaking extended research and study into a specialist area of management in a work-based and business-related topic, impact of external environmental forces on contemporary strategic thinking, strategic decision-making in specific organisational settings, principal concepts of innovation, drivers within business, society, and economy. WHAT QUALIFICATIONS OR QUALITIES ARE REQUIRED?\n\nSQA Higher; BBBC. \nPractical approach to problem solving.\nStrong verbal and written communication skills.\nStrong administrative and organisational skills.\nThe ability to work as part of a team.\nWorking experience of Microsoft packages; Teams, Excel, Word etc.
