We are seeking a passionate and resilient Food and Nutrition Teacher to join our dedicated team at a Pupil Referral Unit in Cardiff. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a genuine difference in the lives of young people who face significant challenges in mainstream education.
You will deliver engaging and practical food and nutrition lessons, inspiring pupils to develop essential life skills in a supportive, inclusive environment.
Key Responsibilities
* Plan and deliver creative, differentiated Food and Nutrition lessons to KS3 and KS4 pupils.
* Design practical activities that promote healthy eating, cooking skills, and nutritional understanding.
* Build positive relationships and provide pastoral support to pupils with social, emotional, and behavioural difficulties (BESD) and those experiencing emotionally based school avoidance (EBSA).
* Work collaboratively with a multi-disciplinary team, including support staff, parents/carers, and external agencies.
* Contribute to the wider school community and enrichment activities.
About You
* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification.
* Proven experience teaching Food and Nutrition (or similar subject) to secondary-aged pupils.
* Essential: Experience working with BESD and EBSA pupils in alternative or specialist settings.
* Ability to engage, motivate, and support pupils with complex needs.
* Excellent communication, organisational, and behaviour management skills.
* A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
