Assistant Store Manager Location: Starbucks Ards Drive Thru, 1 Castlebawn Dr Job Summary and Mission This Job contributes to Starbucks success by assisting the store manager in executing store operations. This job assists and supervises a team of store partners to create and maintain the Starbucks experience for our customers and partners. The partner is responsible for acting in accordance with and as an ambassador of Starbucks guiding principles, culture and values; embracing the coffee culture and keeping it at the heart of everything we do. Summary of Key Responsibilities Responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following : Leadership Supervises partners to ensure they are delivering legendary customer service. Builds relationships and delivers legendary customer service by acting with a customer comes first attitude, engaging the customer in conversation, and connecting with them. Discovers and responds to customer needs and the needs of the community in which the store lives. Communicates and delegates appropriate responsibilities and practices to store partners to ensure smooth flow of operations and allow consistent delivery of the Starbucks experience. Demonstrates integrity, honesty and knowledge to promote the culture, values and mission of Starbucks. Maintains and models a calm exterior presence during periods of high volume or unusual events and moves on immediately after to keep store operating to standard and to set an example for the shift team. Supports store manager in implementing company initiatives by working directly with shift team to execute action plans that meet operational and organisation objectives. Planning and Execution Planning and execution of promotions and other store activities as delegated by store manager Communicates all company policies, store operating standards and procedures clearly and accurately to partners to ensure effective store operations. Filters communication to the shift team as directed by the store manager. Takes responsibility for ensuring store facilities are maintained and operational. Escalates and reports break downs to relevant vendor. Uses management report to plan store labour, orders and deployment for the store that supports customer needs and drives sales. Monitors and provides feedback to baristas and supervisors to deliver the Starbucks experience. Business Requirements Participates in the recruitment process and recommends new hires to store manager. Executes store operations during scheduled shifts. Organises opening and closing duties as assigned. Coaches partners to consistently achieve operational standards; provides quality beverages, whole bean and food products consistently for all customers by adhering to all recipe and presentation standards. Follows health, safety and sanitation guidelines for all products. Follows cash management and cash register policies and ensures proper cash management practices are followed by the shift team. Completes store paperwork as necessary and as directed by the store manager Constantly reviews store environment and key business indicators to identify problems, concerns and opportunities for improvement. Communicates broader ideas for improvement to the store manager Contributes toward store profitability by seeking opportunities to increase sales. Encourages participation from partners in developing store goals and plans and implementing company programs to meet operational and organisational objectives. Partner Development Utilises and provides direction to partners on the use of operational tools to achieve operational excellence. Acts as a coach and mentor to partners by using discretion in assessing performance, providing feedback and coaching to improve partner performance and ensure operational excellence. Supports store manager in managing ongoing partner performance using performance management tools to support organisational objectives. Develops positive relationships with the team of partners by understanding and addressing individual motivation, needs and concerns. Supports store operations by recognising and reinforcing individual and team accomplishments through existing organisational tools and makes recommendations to store manager on new, creative and impactful methods of recognition. Decision Making Parameters Manages the day to day issues that occur during a shift. Delegates work to baristas and shift supervisors and deals with any customer complaints issues service recovery coupons to relevant customers. Works closely with the store manager when reviewing sales/profitability targets.
