Position: Warehouse Operative - Furniture / Fragile units

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Warehouse Operative to join a prestigious lighting and interiors manufacturer based in Mitcham. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting all warehouse operations, including goods in/out, stock control, and dispatch, ensuring an efficient and well-organised environment. This role plays a key part in maintaining accurate inventory levels, supporting the lighting department with receipting stock, and ensuring all customer orders are processed and dispatched accurately and on time.
The position would suit a hands-on, detail-oriented individual with previous warehouse or logistics experience, ideally within a manufacturing, lighting, or engineering environment.
Job Overview
Receive, inspect, and record all incoming shipments, ensuring accuracy against delivery notes and purchase orders.
Process outgoing dispatches efficiently, ensuring goods are securely packed and delivered on time to customers.
Support the lighting department by receipting stock and supplies, ensuring inventory systems are updated in real time.
Maintain accurate stock levels and ensure all movements are correctly logged on the company's ERP system.
Work collaboratively with the production and workshop teams to ensure smooth running of the warehouse and on-time order fulfilment.
Liaise with the purchasing, sales, and operations teams regarding delivery discrepancies, damages, or delays.
Safely operate forklifts and other warehouse equipment (training can be provided if required).
Ensure the warehouse and yard areas remain clean, tidy, and compliant with Health & Safety
Perform regular checks on tools, equipment, and forklifts to maintain safe and reliable operation.
Contribute to process improvements to enhance efficiency and organisation within the warehouse.
Requirements
Previous experience in a warehouse operative or similar role, ideally within a manufacturing or lighting
Previous experience handling furniture / fragile items / high end units
Counterbalance and/or Reach Forklift licence preferred (training can be provided).
Confident in using Microsoft Office and basic ERP or stock management systems.
Strong organisational and time-management skills, with excellent attention to detail.
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with colleagues at all levels.
A proactive, reliable, and safety-conscious approach to all tasks.
Team-oriented with the ability to also work independently and use initiative.
Good level of written and spoken English.
Salary & Benefits
Salary likely £26,000 with potential for progression moving forwards
Bonus scheme (likely 5% throughout the year) 1 Paid in July, 1 paid in December
25 days holiday plus bank holidays
Flexible hours 08:00-16:00 Monday-Friday (37.5 hours)
Overtime available at a rate of 1.5 times
