Your Role
Position: Newly Qualified Occupational Therapist
Full-Time, 5 days a week | Salary: £32,883 (up to £35,465 upon preceptorship completion)
Service Line: Mental Health Adults (High-Dependency Rehabilitation for Men)
Site Overview: Cygnet Hospital Maidstone is a modern, 63-bed mental health facility located in the Kent Medical Campus, Maidstone.
The hospital is purpose-built to meet the latest standards for mental health care and provides essential services for local patients in Kent.
The hospital comprises four specialized wards:
* Roseacre Ward: Personality Disorder service for women
* Kingswood Ward: High Dependency Rehabilitation for men
* Bearsted Ward: Specialist PICU Service for Men
* Saltwood Ward: Male low secure ward
The services are developed in partnership with NHS bodies to deliver care close to home and community.
Ward Focus: Kingswood Ward is a 16-bed inpatient rehabilitation unit for men, emphasizing recovery, community reintegration, and occupational therapy-led interventions.
As an Occupational Therapist, you will conduct assessments, plan and deliver treatments, and develop an OT-led service tailored to patient needs, focusing on community living and functional skills.
Team Structure: The multidisciplinary team includes a consultant psychiatrist, specialty doctor, psychotherapist, assistant psychologist, social worker, mental health nurses, and healthcare assistants.
You will supervise a full-time Occupational Therapy Assistant and receive support through monthly supervision and weekly 1:1 meetings with your supervisor.
The occupational therapy team comprises four members, including a qualified OT, Senior OT, and Head OT, all committed to professional development.
Unique Feature: The ward includes a sensory room to support emotional regulation and patient well-being.

Led by our occupational therapy directors, the group supports over 150 Occupational Therapists, fostering collaboration, specialist interest groups, and service development opportunities.
