Draughtsperson Job Summary / Purpose And Role
As a draughtsperson, you will produce CAD models, engineering drawings and associated engineering information as part of a multi‑disciplined team delivering Aquila’s major projects or workstreams. You will work directly under the supervision of the Drawing Office Manager, Principal Engineer or Senior Mechanical Design Engineer.

Head of Engineering, Engineering Manager, Principal Engineers, Senior Engineers, Design Engineers; Project Managers/Engineers; Support functions – Finance, HR, H&S.

Draughtsperson Main Duties and Responsibilities
* Produce engineering drawings compliant with BS 8888 and other relevant BS/ISO standards.
* Produce engineering designs ensuring design for manufacture and design for assembly is captured.
* Support Design Engineers during the detail design phase, ensuring proper application of tolerances, limits and fits.
* Support the checking of engineering drawings across Aquila projects.
* Capture and convey design intent on manufacturing drawings.
* Provide feedback and training to other engineers on best‑practice drafting techniques and methods.
* Gain insight into the Aquila supply chain to ensure manufacturing capabilities are reflected in detail designs.
* Support the Engineering Support Supervisor in the application and update of the Aquila Draughting Manual and related procedures.
* Be a hands‑on SolidWorks design asset when required.
* Assist in general clerical and administrative duties to ensure the smooth running of the Engineering Department.
* Attend planning and briefing meetings.
* Collaborate with the project team to clarify any technical issues.
Draughtsperson Eligibility Criteria
• Current valid right to work in the UK.
• A good standard of written and spoken English.
Draughtsperson Qualifications
• Mechanical Engineering Degree.
• HNC/HND Engineering Discipline (Mechanical).
• Engineering Degree (BEng / MSc).
• Professional Registration (EngTech / IEng / CEng).
• Nuclear experience / highly regulated industry.
• Security Cleared (DV/SC).
• ISO9001 certification.

* Knowledge of engineering delivery process.

* Experience with NEC contracts or similar.
* Technical support to bid process.
