Overview
Hywel Dda University Health Board values who we are and how we behave. We strive to develop and deliver excellent services, putting people at the heart of everything we do. Our Sonographer role supports our busy Ultrasound department, providing general and obstetric ultrasound examinations.
Responsibilities
* Scan patients and produce independent reports of scans in line with departmental guidelines.
* Take an active role in teaching, practical training of student sonographers and others in training.
* Participate in audit and clinical governance programmes with the department.
* Communicate with patients, relatives and others about the purpose of examinations and scan results in line with departmental guidelines.
* Develop own skills and knowledge, contribute to development of others, identifying training needs and reporting to Lead Sonographer.
* Plan and prioritise own workload and that of the area to ensure efficient flow of work, keeping waiting times to a minimum while maintaining high standard of service delivery.
Qualifications
Suitable candidates will be a registered health professional with an appropriate post‑graduate qualification in Medical Ultrasound and proven experience in both general and obstetric ultrasound examinations. Excellent communication skills, ability to work independently and as part of a team are required. A flexible approach to service delivery is needed.
Language Requirements
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post. If an applicant does not meet Welsh language requirements, the Health Board offers learning options to help meet minimal desirable requirements during employment. English speakers are also welcome to apply.
