Job Title: Band 6 Pre-Assessment Nurse
The Band 6 Pre-Assessment nurse will work as an autonomous practitioner with a caseload of complex patients within a team structure. The delivery of high-quality, effective, and compassionate care is essential to our organization. Pre-Assessment is a pivotal part of the patient’s pathway, ensuring patients are in optimal health for their procedures. The post holder will lead the service in Winchester with support across all Trust sites: Basingstoke, Winchester, and Andover.
Main Duties of the Job
* Practise autonomously, managing a caseload of patients, supporting the team in delivering a seven-day, twenty-four-hour service. Responsibilities include ensuring high standards of professional practice to ensure quality and safety of patient care, informing patients about their procedures, and explaining post-operative recovery expectations. The role requires specialised clinical knowledge, skills, and experience.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Current level one NMC registration with post-registration experience in pre-assessment
* First level degree or working towards one
* Holder of History Taking and Physical Assessment Course
Experience
* Relevant clinical experience in pre-assessment
* Knowledge of policies, practices, and procedures, including NHS standards and policies related to patient care
* Previous experience in Women’s Health
Skills
* Ability to prioritise workload and respond to urgent situations
* Effective communication skills to present and receive complex information within a multi-professional team and to convey sensitive information empathetically to patients, relatives, and staff
* Leadership skills in managing change
* Physical fitness to manage exertion during shifts
* Ability to manage highly distressing or emotional situations empathetically
