Job Description
Our fantastic client is seeking a dedicated and experienced Accounts Senior to join their expanding team in Nottingham. You will play a pivotal role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of their financial processes while driving efficiency. This is a senior-level position requiring a background in accountancy and the ability to provide mentoring and expertise.
Working hours and benefits:
* Monday to Friday, 9am – 5pm
* Circa £31,000
* Working from home 1 day a week
* Free on-site parking
The Role:
1. Management of Company Accounts: Oversee sales and purchase ledger input and management, prepare monthly management accounts and bank reconciliation, maintain and manage VAT accounts, including VAT returns.
2. Client Account Management: Reconcile client accounts, process payments received and made, prepare BACS transmissions for Direct Debit collections and payments, handle client enquiries by email and telephone.
3. Mentorship and Change Champion: Serve as the first point of escalation for the accounts team, providing guidance and solutions. Champion change by identifying inefficiencies and risks in processes and proposing automation strategies. Implement checks and procedures to minimise manual work and reduce errors.
4. Additional responsibilities: Assist with the annual budget preparation and provide data for forecasting. Work closely with external accountants on audits and escalations. Support the preparation of year-end accounts and monthly reports for Directors. Maintain a focus on financial security and data protection. Assist in payroll preparation and payments each month.
The Candidate:
1. At least 3 years’ experience in an accounting role.
2. Able to prioritise workload calmly.
3. Keen to solve problems and troubleshoot issues.
4. Proficiency in Sage accounting and payroll systems.
5. Experience with forecasting tools (Reforecast preferred).
6. Formal training in accountancy or actively working towards a qualification is highly desirable.
7. Advanced Excel skills for problem resolution and reporting.
8. Excellent communication skills and a positive, proactive attitude.
9. Ability to prioritise, decide, and deliver effectively in a fast-paced environment.
