About The Role
As a Team Manager at our Livingston bakery, you will lead a shift-based team to deliver strong performance across safety, quality and cost KPIs. Operating on a 3‑shift pattern, you will alternate between Sunday to Thursday night shifts and Monday to Friday morning and afternoon shifts, ensuring consistent leadership presence across operations. You’ll play a key role in bringing our operational strategy to life, driving team engagement and ensuring delivery of site targets. This role is central to our continuous improvement journey, with responsibility for implementing and managing site operational improvement plans to enhance efficiency, performance and overall standards across the bakery.
Main Responsibilities
* Drive continuous improvement of the quality system to eliminate repeat failures and strengthen overall standards.
* Develop and enhance operational processes to maximise performance and efficiency.
* Lead the operations team to improve plant output and consistently deliver against customer service plans.
* Deliver financial targets in line with business unit objectives, ensuring KPI performance across waste, TOS, efficiency and machine uptime.
* Work collaboratively with site functions, including Engineering, to achieve daily, weekly, monthly and annual targets.
* Foster a positive working culture through clear, consistent and visible leadership.
* Support and develop your team, recognising and rewarding performance through regular reviews and feedback.
* Motivate and coach your team to make effective decisions, encouraging autonomy, accountability and a strong sense of ownership.
* Manage labour in line with site standards, controlling overtime in line with budget expectations.
* Ensure all team members are trained to operate efficiently and in compliance with legal and site requirements.
* Promote a strong safety culture by ensuring risk assessments, safety inspections and accident investigations are completed to the required standards and within agreed timescales.
* Effectively manage absence to support delivery of budget and operational performance.
* Resolve time and attendance or payroll queries in a timely and accurate manner.
Who We Are Looking For
* Proven experience in a leadership or management role within shift-based operations, ideally within an FMCG or fast-paced manufacturing environment, with a solid understanding of manufacturing excellence principles.
* IOSH qualification (or equivalent) is desirable, alongside a strong and demonstrable commitment to health and safety standards.
* A Food Safety or Hygiene qualification would be advantageous; however, we welcome applications from candidates outside the food or drink sector who bring relevant manufacturing leadership experience.
* Desirable – A qualification in manufacturing excellence (e.g. Lean, Six Sigma Green Belt). Equally important is a genuine interest in continuous improvement and a strong willingness to further develop knowledge and capability in this area.
