Planning Intern
Location: Badentoy, Aberdeen
Contract: 12-month paid internship / industrial placement
Working pattern: Monday-Friday, flexible working hours (generally office-based Tuesday-Thursday)
About the role
Are you a Business, Project Management or Operations-focused student looking for a hands-on industrial placement where you can gain real-world experience in planning, scheduling, and total lifecycle management?
We're looking for a Planning Intern to join this well-known Oil Exploration & Energy Services business, where you'll support the Master Scheduler in delivering effective manufacturing schedules and capacity plans. This is a varied, practical role that will give you exposure to the full lifecycle of offshore and onshore products, working closely with planning, workshop, rental, and manufacturing teams.
What you'll be doing
As a Planning Intern, you'll be involved in a wide range of activities, including:
* Supporting the Master Scheduler with manufacturing schedules, workload, and capacity planning
* Preparing workshop schedules, capacity charts, and planning reports
* Working closely with workshop and operational teams to support smooth execution of plans
* Assisting with analysis of deviations from plan, identifying risks and potential recovery actions
* Supporting planning for new and ongoing projects, including future capacity requirements
* Gaining hands-on exposure to planning tools and systems used in industry
What we're looking for
We're open to applications from students between 2nd and 3rd year of university, or recent graduates, who are keen to build a career in planning, project management, or operations.
Essential:
* Studying towards (or recently obtained) a degree in Project Management, Business Management, Operations, Engineering, or a related discipline
* Strong organisational and problem-solving skills
* Good communication skills and the ability to build effective working relationships
* A proactive, curious mindset and willingness to learn
Desirable:
* Any exposure to planning, scheduling, manufacturing, or engineering environments
* Knowledge of tools such as Microsoft Project or Primavera P6
* Interest in continuous improvement methods
