System Design Engineer
You will take ownership of complex electro‑mechanical integration projects where your design decisions directly shape the next generation of maritime defence systems. This role offers the autonomy to influence technical standards and select the software tools that will define the future of the engineering function.
What you will need
* British nationality for security reasons
* Experience in electrical and mechanical systems design
* Eligibility for Security Check (SC) clearance
* Expert proficiency in 2D and 3D CAD tools

The work
* Develop integrated electrical and mechanical design concepts from first principles for complex maritime systems.
* Produce high‑quality 2D and 3D drawings and STEP files for customer delivery using AutoCAD and specialized electrical CAD packages.
* Lead the design of electrical enclosures, control panels, and 19‑inch racks while ensuring strict compliance with manufacturing techniques.
* Take responsibility for refining rough mechanical designs into precise, production‑ready drawing outputs.
* Collaborate with internal departments and sub‑contractors to coordinate technical responses and ensure positive project outcomes.
What you bring
* Strong knowledge of electrical safety regulations including BS7671 18th edition and the Electricity at Work Act.
* Practical experience with technical standards for Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) and the Low Voltage Directive (LVD).
* Familiarity with BS8888 2017 and ISO drawing standards.
* Ability to solve complex engineering problems and meet tight deadlines within a changing project environment.
* Competency in producing Visio drawings to support broader company technical documentation needs.
* A proactive mindset with the ability to work independently and manage cross‑boundary internal relationships.

This role is based in Redhill and operates on a hybrid working pattern following the successful completion of your probation period.
