Responsible for the financial management of standard projects from inception, tendering to, negotiating and agreeing contracts, and commercially delivering Projects. An integral part of the project delivery team where they hold key responsibilities associated with leading the commercial and financial success of each project.
The role is broad and includes anything from risk management to procurement, contract management, financial reporting and managing the supply chain. Typically, they will have a track record of managing and developing a commercial team and be themselves a Chartered Member of the RICS, ICES or CIOB, and a mentor/role model to other commercial staff on their journey to becoming professionally qualified. They will maintain their Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
What you'll be doing
As a Commercial Manager in the secure and ever-expanding infrastructure industry, you'll:
1. Has a good knowledge of and adheres to the Companys governance requirements and maximises LEAN/digital opportunities
2. An ability to see bigger picture
3. Understands how economic factors that affects the construction industry
4. Awareness of disputes resolution including options, structure, techniques, experts etc.
5. Application of legislation and ability to liaise with legal experts
6. Preparation of Estimates & Tender submissions including the interpretation of specifications & preambles
7. Representation of the financial and contractual interests to the client in progress meetings or the like
8. Willing to take initiative to respond to customer requirements
9. Manages commercial aspects with Suppliers, Customers, and stakeholders to ensure task/project remains on plan
10. Co-ordination of buying, accounts, production control/planning, supply chain management & procurement techniques, estimating & surveying functions
11. Management and reporting of Commercial Risk and Opportunity
12. Management of disallowed cost
Who we're looking for
To progress your career with us as a Commercial Manager, you'll need:
13. UK Security Cleared or ability to obtain UK Security Clearance
14. BSc or MSc in Quantity Surveying or equivalent
15. Membership of RICS, ICES or CIOB (or working towards)
16. CSCS Card (Professional/Academically Qualified Person)
17. Strong commercial acumen
18. Excellent client liaison, negotiating and project management skills
19. To be a natural leader with experience of managing a commercial team
20. An extensive understanding of the construction industry

22. A degree or relevant equivalent experience.
