An exciting and unique opportunity has arisen for a highly experienced hospital pharmacist to join the Pharmacy team at University Hospitals Dorset as deputy lead for Women and Children. We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for providing a clinical pharmacy service to patients across the directorate. Working both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team, your expertise will be crucial in ensuring the maximum efficacy, safety, and value for money of drug therapy, while demonstrating professional accountability in enhancing patient care.
Overview
Neonatal and maternity units are on the Royal Bournemouth site and the Paediatric unit is on the Poole site, with a transition to Royal Bournemouth site early 2026. The role involves working closely with the MDT to provide quality pharmaceutical care to paediatric, neonatal, and maternity services. Attendance at external training courses will be supported. The base location involves cross-site work at Royal Bournemouth and Poole Hospital. The department supports flexible working arrangements, including part-time and job-sharing opportunities.
Responsibilities
* Provide a clinical pharmacy service to patients across the Women and Children directorate.
* Work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team to optimise medicines, ensure safety, and maximise value for money.
* Collaborate with the MDT to deliver high-quality pharmaceutical care to paediatric, neonatal, and maternity services.
* Participate in weekend daytime and weekday late-night rotas (approximately 1 in 5 weekend shifts; one Bank Holiday shift per year).
* Engage in ongoing professional development, including attendance at externally provided training courses.
* Support the expansion of clinical pharmacy services and medicines optimisation across the Trust.
Qualifications and Requirements
* Registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).
* Experience in neonatal, paediatric, and maternity pharmacy services is desirable.
* Strong clinical and leadership capabilities with the ability to develop and mentor colleagues.
