Overview
Worcestershire County Council is seeking a Senior / Principal Highways Development Planner in Worcester. This is a permanent role within the Planning and Transport Planning team, offering 35 hours per week with a salary of £44,631 - £47,552 per annum.
Responsibilities
* Join the Highways Development Management team to shape future growth in Worcestershire.
* Deliver ambitious highway schemes benefiting residents and wider communities, including large developments, new settlements, and urban expansions, with a focus on sustainable growth across all modes.
* Contribute to the transport network strategy, including road, rail, and active travel infrastructure investments and improvements.
* Collaborate with Worcestershire Local Planning Authorities across all stages of the development process (pre-application discussions to condition discharge and post-application consents).
* Shape proposals in the Worcestershire Local Plans, including allocations and planning applications with various considerations and challenges.
* Assist in shaping emerging Local Plans and corresponding infrastructure requirements, guiding proposals from concept to delivery.
* Assess transport impact of planning applications, comment on applications, review transport statements, attend planning committee meetings, and provide evidence at appeals.
Qualifications & Experience
* Transport professional with a background in planning or transport planning for new developments.
* Experience in assessing transport impacts of planning applications and statements.
* Experience in presenting at planning committee and giving evidence at appeals.
