Key responsibilities
* Preparing ingredients before service (mise en place).
* Cooking and plating food to order.
* Following set recipes and portion sizes for consistency.
* Operating kitchen equipment safely.
* Maintaining a clean and organised kitchen area.
* Monitoring food quality and presentation.
* Managing stock levels and informing manager of shortages.
* Ensuring all food is served hot, fresh, and on time.
* Washing or supervising the cleaning of utensils and surfaces.
* Supporting smooth service during busy periods.
Skills required
* Food preparation: chopping, slicing, grilling, frying, baking, and assembling dishes quickly.
* Time management: working efficiently during peak service times.
* Multitasking: handling several orders at once without compromising quality.
* Food safety & hygiene: knowledge of safe food handling, storage, and cleaning practices.
* Teamwork: coordinating with bar staff, servers, and kitchen assistants.
* Communication: clear and quick exchanges with front-of-house staff.
