About the Role :
As the Team Leader - Child and Family Services, you’ll oversee a dedicated team committed to enhancing the safety, stability, and well-being of children, young people, and families across Southwest Victoria. You will lead the coordination and delivery of programs funded by the Department of Families, Fairness and Housing (DFFH), impacting lives through initiatives focused on early intervention, family reunification, and youth empowerment. The role requires a compassionate leader skilled in case management, in-home support, and family work, with a deep understanding of child and family services legislation. You’ll manage a caseload within the Integrated Family Services (IFS) suite, ensuring tailored, responsive support for each family.
Key programs include the Integrated Family Services Program, Adolescent Support, Finding Solutions, Targeted Care Packages, and the Who's in Charge Program, all aimed at strengthening family dynamics and promoting safe environments for young people. You will supervise the Family Preservation and Reunification Practitioner and collaborate with partner agencies, Child Protection, and community partners to develop innovative solutions for families. * Conducting research, service mapping, needs analysis, and program evaluation to meet best practices and inform planning.
* Leading and managing program services in accordance with plans, agreements, and funding requirements, providing operational support to staff.
* Maintaining professional and ethical standards of care and service, aligned with Brophy Family and Youth Services’ philosophy.
* Supervising and supporting team members.
* Engaging with children, young people, and families using strategies such as outreach, assertive engagement, persistence, and pacing.
* Acting as Line Manager as required.
Do your skills include :
* A solid understanding of issues faced by disadvantaged and vulnerable children, young people, and their families, especially within child protection.
* The ability to make timely, sound decisions and assessments under pressure.
* An understanding of developmental trauma impacts on children and youth.
* Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to facilitate a team approach to achieve service goals.
* A sector-recognised, accredited Bachelor of Social Work or equivalent qualification (must be approved by recognised bodies such as AASW, APS).
* A current Drivers Licence.
