Job Description
The Managing Director will lead the strategic and operational management of NTH Solutions, driving performance, innovation and growth.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop and implement a long‑term strategic plan aligned with UHT’s vision.
* Lead a diverse workforce across estates, facilities and domestic services, fostering a culture of excellence, inclusion and continuous improvement.
* Ensure effective management of resources, budgets and contracts to deliver high‑quality, cost‑effective services.
* Drive innovation and sustainability across NTH Solutions.
* Build strong relationships with UHT leaders, clinical teams, regulators and external partners to ensure seamless, patient‑focused service delivery.
* Lead on governance, risk management and statutory compliance for all operational areas.
Person Specification
Essential
* Proven leadership and strategic management capabilities.
* Strong analytical, innovative thinking and communication skills.
* In‑depth knowledge of estates and facilities management, including lifecycle planning, compliance, sustainability and service delivery models.
* Experience leading organisational change, workforce development and cultural alignment.
* High commercial and business understanding with solid financial management expertise.
* Demonstrated business development skills resulting in major income streams.
* Understanding of NHS commercial issues and contract law.
Desirable
* Strategic insight into NHS operations and policy frameworks.
* Knowledge of corporate governance, regulatory compliance, health and safety, risk management and environmental standards.
* Understanding of procurement and supply‑chain management within public sector frameworks.
* Experience navigating complex contractual arrangements (PFI, joint ventures, LLP structures).
* Postgraduate qualification (e.g., MBA, MSc in Facilities Management).
* Membership of relevant professional bodies (IWFM, RICS, CIBSE, etc.).
* Formal training in project management methodologies (PRINCE2, MSP).
* Experience working within or alongside NHS organisations or public sector bodies.
Qualifications
* Degree or significant senior‑level relevant experience (business management, engineering, estates/facilities management, or healthcare leadership).
* Evidence of continuous professional development in leadership, governance or strategic planning.
