Role Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Specialist LSA in Canolfan y Don to provide one-to-one support for a pupil with complex medical needs during a maternity cover period. The pupil is wheelchair-dependent and requires tube feeding, along with ongoing medical care throughout the school day. This role is essential in ensuring the pupil’s safety, well-being, and access to learning.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Provide high-quality, individualized support to meet the pupil’s educational and personal care needs.
2. Assist with medical requirements, including tube feeding and monitoring health indicators, following training and school protocols.
3. Support mobility and positioning in line with health professionals guidance.
4. Facilitate inclusion in classroom activities and social interactions.
5. Work closely with teachers, healthcare professionals, and parents to implement care and learning plans.
6. Maintain accurate records of care and progress.
Essential Skills and Experience:
7. Experience working with children with additional needs.Strong communication skills, can work calmly under pressure and have a positive attitude.
8. Ability to remain calm under pressure and respond to medical needs promptly.
9. Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Desirable:
10. Experience working with pupils with complex medical or physical needs.
11. Knowledge of medical procedures such as tube feeding (training provided if necessary).
12. Background in healthcare or previous experience in a similar role.
13. Level 2 qualification in Learning Support or equivalent (or willingness to work towards one).
