Looking for a role where you can genuinely make a difference, every single day?
We’re working with a fantastic specialist setting in Sunderland that supports pupils with severe, profound and multiple learning difficulties, including autism. It’s a place where care, creativity and consistency come together, and where every small step forward is celebrated.
From the moment you walk through the doors, you’ll feel it. Calm classrooms, engaged learners, and a team that truly works together.
What’s the role?
You’ll be teaching within one of several curriculum pathways, ranging from pre-formal through to formal learning. It’s a highly personalised approach, designed around each pupil’s needs, not a one-size-fits-all model.
You’ll be:
* Delivering tailored, meaningful learning experiences
* Working closely with support staff and therapists
* Leading a classroom team with confidence and care
* Creating a safe, structured, and engaging environment
What are we looking for?
This role suits someone who knows their way around a specialist setting, or someone ready to bring their skills into SEN with the right mindset.
You’ll need:
* QTS and strong classroom practice
* Experience with SLD, PMLD or autism (or a genuine passion to develop in this area)
* A good understanding of child development and complex needs
* Confidence leading a team and adapting your approach daily
If you’re calm under pressure, naturally nurturing, and love finding creative ways to help pupils connect and learn, you’ll fit right in.
Why this school?
This isn’t just another SEN setting. It’s a forward-thinking environment with a real focus on development, for both pupils and staff.
You’ll be joining a team that:
* Shares best practice and supports each other ყოველდღ
* Works closely with national networks and research groups
* Offers ongoing training and development opportunities
* Is genuinely invested in preparing pupils for life beyond school
There’s also flexibility to work across different sites within Sunderland, giving you variety and broader experience.
The benefits:
* Competitive salary with SEN allowance
* Supportive, experienced leadership team
* Opportunities for progression and CPD
* A collaborative, multi-disciplinary working environment
