Job Title: School Receptionist Location: Slough, Berkshire Position: Full-time Reports to: School Office Manager / Headteacher Job Summary: We are seeking a friendly, organized, and professional School Receptionist to be the first point of contact for visitors, parents, staff, and students at our school in Slough. The ideal candidate will provide excellent customer service, handle administrative duties efficiently, and contribute to a welcoming and safe school environment. Key Responsibilities: Greet and welcome visitors, parents, and staff in a warm and professional manner. Manage the school’s main reception area, including answering phone calls, responding to emails, and directing enquiries appropriately. Maintain and update school records, including attendance registers and visitor logs. Manage incoming and outgoing mail and deliveries. Provide administrative support to the school office team, including photocopying, filing, and data entry. Assist with booking appointments and managing the school calendar. Ensure safeguarding procedures are followed, including issuing visitor badges and monitoring visitor access. Support communication between parents and school staff by relaying messages promptly. Help coordinate arrangements for school events and meetings as required. Maintain confidentiality and discretion at all times. Requirements: Previous experience in a receptionist or administrative role, preferably within an educational environment. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently and calmly under pressure. Proficient in using Microsoft Office and school management software. A welcoming and professional demeanor. Knowledge of safeguarding and data protection policies is desirable. Flexibility to support occasional out-of-hours events. The suitable candidate must have: GCSE Maths and English (or equivalent) at a minimum of Grade 5/Grade C Confident telephone skills Experience of Office 365 to an intermediate level Experience of working with children/public Confident telephone skills Knowledge and understanding of school administration processes and procedures, including SIMS Benefits: Competitive salary.
