We are offering an exciting opportunity to join us as a Health & Safety Specialist in an international environment, advising and supporting the development of Wind and Solar projects in the UK, based in Hexham.

We are seeking a Health and Safety Specialist with knowledge of developing Wind, Solar, and Battery projects to support the safe development of our upcoming Onshore Wind, Solar, and Battery projects.
You will proactively support project and procurement management by providing leadership and promoting a responsible attitude towards health and safety.
As the Health & Safety Specialist, your role is crucial in enhancing health and safety practices within our development projects. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to implement the Business Area Wind HSE Management System and drive contractor cooperation and evaluation.
With a focus on continuous improvement, you will prioritize targets and influence industry best practices, demonstrating expertise in H&S legislation and regulations. Your responsibilities include effective collaboration and adherence to Vattenfall's values and code of conduct.
The role also involves ensuring Vattenfall and its contractors comply with health & safety legislation, standards, and site requirements.
Some of your tasks and responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
* Providing independent, authoritative, high-quality advice to improve health and safety performance.
* Supporting project teams in implementing the BA Wind HS&E Management System, collaborating with Environment & Sustainability Specialists and Quality Specialists.
* Coaching project team members to increase H&S awareness and support them in fulfilling their responsibilities, actively eliminating safety risks early in the project according to the Hierarchy of Controls and TDD process.
* Championing the Vattenfall Safety Culture Initiative.
* Supporting project managers in driving H&S deliverables, including hazard identification workshops, risk assessments, reviewing subcontractor method statements, and risk assessments.
* Supporting procurement activities by participating in contractor tender processes and evaluating submissions against internal procedures.
* Managing accident and incident cases via the Intelex system and contributing to H&S lessons learned database.
Additionally, you will forecast workloads, ensure coverage across projects, and participate in safety and sustainability assessments and incident investigations as needed.
Drive Transformation and Continuous Improvement:
* Understanding business strategies and supporting continuous H&S performance improvement.
* Influencing industry best practices and promoting H&S interests internally and externally.
* Evaluating and improving working practices as defined in the H&S Management System, advocating for continuous safety improvements.

Qualifications
Your profile / who are you?
You are action-oriented, setting goals and embracing new challenges with enthusiasm. You adapt quickly to changing demands, build strong relationships, and deliver customer-centric solutions. You anticipate stakeholder needs, build partnerships, and communicate effectively across diverse groups.
Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in an international organization.
* Knowledge of safety management
* Full understanding of applicable H&S legislation
* Experience managing contractors as clients or principal contractors
* Ability to prioritize and organize tasks efficiently, with strong problem-solving skills
* Proficient in MS Office
* Excellent English language skills
* Willingness to travel as required
