Overview

The pupils, staff, parents and Governors of Ysgol Owen Jones Primary School are seeking to appoint an inclusive, innovative, and inspirational school leader who can successfully build on the strong foundations established at the school as highlighted within the recent Estyn inspection.

At Ysgol Owen Jones, our mission is to create an environment where children are encouraged to be ‘curious, caring and courageous’.

As such, we are looking to appoint a current Headteacher seeking a new challenge or an established Senior Leader with substantial leadership skills looking for a first headteacher role. All applicants should have an excellent track record of establishing whole school approaches to curriculum that promote high standards of teaching and learning, using both innovative and inclusive approaches that meet the needs of all pupils. Applicants should also have substantial leadership, management and motivational skills and hold the NPQH qualification.

Ysgol Owen Jones is a small, nurturing and community-focused primary school located in Northop, on the outskirts of Mold in beautiful North Wales. The school is committed to fostering an inclusive environment where children are encouraged to be curious, caring, and courageous. The school has a tradition of achieving high standards and fostering positive interpersonal relationships.

We are looking for a Headteacher who:

➔ Will enthuse and inspire staff and children to be the best they can be, maintaining and developing high standards established at the school.

➔ Continues to develop a nurturing culture that meets the needs of all pupils and promotes positive behaviour.

➔ Shows strong collaborative leadership and a commitment to professional development of staff.

➔ Will bring a range of skills and knowledge to develop a bespoke Curriculum for pupils as well as lead a range of extra-curricular activities.

➔ Will promote the Welsh language and culture, which will develop pupils’ bilingual skills as

appropriate.

➔ Has the enthusiasm to lead the school forward in a positive and supportive way.

➔ Will work well with the local community and support families

➔ Will be visible and approachable

➔ Have the resilience to meet the strategic and demanding day-to-day challenges of this pivotal role
