Placement Year: Specialist SEMH Learning Support
Location: North Bristol (BS35)
Contract Type: Full-time, long-term (term-time only)
Pay: From £14.25 per hour (approx. 35 hours per week, Monday–Friday)
Responsibilities
* Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEMH and additional needs such as ASD.
* Support emotional regulation, behaviour management, and social development.
* Deliver tailored learning activities both in and outside the classroom.
* Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils to promote engagement and progress.
* Encourage independence, confidence, and resilience.
About the School/Setting
You’ll be working in a specialist, nurturing environment in North Bristol, part of a multi-school group dedicated to supporting children with complex needs. What We’re Looking For
* Essential: Experience supporting children or young people with SEND/SEMH (paid, voluntary, or personal). Willingness to obtain (or already hold) an enhanced DBS.
* University student on a placement year (e.g., studying psychology, education, or related field) and passionate about working with SEMH.
* Patient, empathetic, and resilient with a genuine desire to support young people.
* Strong communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.
* Desirable: Experience working with Autism (ASC) or challenging behaviour. Team Teach training or willingness to undertake training. Relevant qualifications or modules linked to SEND.
