A Senior QS/Commercial Manager with sharp teeth, who thrives on making things happen, negotiation and has a desire to save money and negotiate/cut costs (not corners) on large project work.

The Role:
This is a senior-level position, ideal for an experienced professional who thrives on serious negotiation and commercial management. You will play a critical role in ensuring projects are financially successful, while maintaining strong relationships with clients, contractors, and suppliers. Importantly, this role does not involve line management, it’s about technical expertise, negotiation, and delivering results.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead on cost planning, budgeting, and forecasting for construction projects.
* Be a negotiating QS bull dog!
* Prepare tender and contract documentation (JCT/NEC).
* Negotiate with contractors and suppliers to secure best value.
* Manage variations, valuations, and final accounts.
* Provide strategic commercial advice to project teams and directors.
* Ensure compliance with legal, contractual, and quality standards.
Requirements:
* Degree in Quantity Surveying or equivalent. (would be ideal)
* Chartered status (MRICS or similar) preferred. (Also ideal but not essential)
* Minimum 7+ years’ experience in construction cost management, negotiation in a similar SME QS role.
* VERY strong negotiation skills with proven commercial acumen.
* Excellent knowledge of contracts
* Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects.
