Role Overview
We are seeking a compassionate, organised and motivated Housing Support Officer to join our team. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in delivering high-quality support to tenants, managing referrals, and facilitating access to housing and essential services. This role is key to ensuring that individuals are safely housed and supported to develop the skills needed to maintain tenancies and improve their quality of life.
Key Responsibilities.
1. Tenant Referrals & Move-Ins
* Receive, assess and process incoming tenant referrals from local authorities, housing partners and support agencies.
* Conduct initial assessments to determine support needs and eligibility.
* Coordinate and facilitate placements into suitable accommodation in line with service capacity and individual needs.
* Prepare and complete all referral documentation, risk assessments and consent forms accurately and within agreed timelines.
2. Supporting Tenants
* Provide person-centered support to individuals living in our properties, tailored to their unique circumstances and needs.
* Work collaboratively with tenants to develop and review individual support plans with clear goals.
* Assist tenants in accessing essential services including health care, employment, education, benefits, budgeting, life skills and community resources.
* Maintain regular contact with tenants to monitor well being, progress and emergent needs.
3. Tenancy & Accommodation Management
* Support tenants to sustain their tenancies through proactive engagement, mediation and education.
* Liaise with housing officers, landlords and external partners regarding tenancy issues, repairs or property maintenance when necessary.
* Report any safeguarding concerns, anti-social behaviour, rent arrears or property issues promptly and in line with organisational policy.
4. Record Keeping & Compliance
* Maintain accurate, up-to-date case notes and records on internal systems.
* Complete risk assessments, incident reports, safeguarding referrals and other documentation as required.
* Ensure compliance with organisational procedures, regulatory standards and data-protection requirements.
5. Multi-Agency Collaboration
* Build and maintain positive working relationships with external agencies including health services, social care, probation, substance misuse services and local support networks.
* Attend multi-agency meetings, case reviews and reviews of support plans when required.
* Advocate on behalf of tenants to secure additional support or specialist services.
Person Specification Skills & Competencies
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to build rapport and engage vulnerable individuals
Excellent organisational, time management and prioritisation skills
Competent IT skills (case-management systems, email, MS Office)
Empathy, resilience and a non-judgmental approach
Experience
Previous experience working in housing, supported accommodation or social care environment is desirable
Experience of managing referrals and supporting high-needs individuals is an advantage
Qualifications
Level 3 or above in Health & Social Care, Housing or related field (desirable)
Training in safeguarding, risk assessment, conflict resolution or trauma-informed practice (desirable)

Please note: This is a dual-location role requiring both office-based and property-based working. The successful candidate must be able to travel between sites and therefore must have access to their own transport.
