Social Worker

We have a vacancy in the Barking and Dagenham team for a Social Worker. You will work as part of a multi‑disciplinary team, providing a wide range of treatment interventions and supporting families to overcome substance misuse, mental health and domestic abuse problems that put their children at risk of serious harm. The role requires travel between sites across Barking and Dagenham; flexible working including evenings, Saturdays and home visits is essential.
Location: Dagenham
Full‑time hours: 37.5 per week
Salary: £37,184.91 – £44,471.72 (pro‑rata for part time)
Allowance: £2,195.72 Outer London Weighting
About the role
* Play a key part in developing the support offer and work flexibly to maximise positive impact for service users.
* Provide advice and consultation on risk, safeguarding and complex needs.
* Support recovery coordinators with completing and reviewing referrals and actions.
* Represent the service at external meetings such as MARAC and MATAC.
* Facilitate empowerment of teams and individuals to increase knowledge, skills and professional confidence.
* Proactively support the wider integrated care system across social care, police and hospitals.
About you
* Hold a valid qualification in Social Work and be registered with the regulatory body.
* Completed ASYE.
* Experience working with substance misuse and related complexities.
* Good working knowledge of children/adult social care systems.
* Experience and knowledge of safeguarding children and vulnerable adults.
* Experience of developing and sustaining positive relationships with professionals.
* Positive engagement with people who use our service.
* Experience applying the Care Act (Desirable).
* Knowledge of local safeguarding protocols (Desirable).
* Knowledge of local self‑neglect guidance (Desirable).
