HGV Class 1 Driver – Afternoon Shift (East Midlands Gateway, Derbyshire) People Solutions are currently recruiting for an HGV Class 1 Driver to join our well-established client based at East Midlands Gateway, Derbyshire. Shifts • Monday to Friday • Start time: 15:00 Rates of Pay • 06:00 – 18:00: £16.66 per hour • 18:00 – 06:00: £20.82 per hour Benefits • Weekly pay • Ongoing, long-term work • Permanent positions available for the right candidates • On-site canteen facilities • Secure on-site parking • Overtime available • Modern 23-plate vehicles • 33 days holiday once permanent (aligned with factory shutdowns) • Excellent pay rates Day-to-Day Duties • Safely and efficiently drive HGV Class 1 (CE) vehicles • Complete 3–5 trunk runs per shift • Operate curtain-sider trailers and correctly secure all loads (including awkward loads) • Deliver goods to various destinations in a timely manner • Communicate effectively with the transport office and site teams • Adhere to company policies, site procedures, and safety regulations • Ensure full compliance with driving legislation and working time directives Essential Skills • Valid UK Category CE (Class 1) Driving Licence • Valid CPC Card and Digital Tachograph Card • Minimum of six months' continuous experience driving HGV Class 1 vehicles • Maximum of six penalty points for minor infringements (no major endorsements) • Excellent communication and time management skills • Professional, reliable, and safety-focused attitude Desirable Experience • Previous experience securing and strapping abnormal or awkward loads • Experience manoeuvring within tight delivery depots Training Provided • Driving assessment required prior to start • Three-day company assesment • Full industry-related training and ongoing support throughout Apply If you're ready to take on this fantastic opportunity as an HGV Class 1 Driver, apply today by clicking the link below or contact our recruitment team for more information.
