Based within Wem, this role supports young people aged 8–18, helping them feel safe, valued and supported.

Main Purpose Of The Job
To assist the manager in achieving the aims and objectives of the statement of purpose. To deputise in the absence of the registered manager. To support and manage the staff to enable them to meet the needs of the children and young people. To undertake direct work with children and young people as appropriate. To be the responsible person in managing child protection concerns and complaints. To work in partnership with other professionals to achieve optimum outcomes for young people. To offer supervisions and support to senior staff in line with care quality standards and Children’s Homes Regulations 2015.
Duties And Responsibilities
* Ensure each young person has an allocated key worker
* Ensure each staff member is aware of each child’s placement plan and responsibilities for its implementation
* Attend childcare reviews and planning meetings to provide information and achieve best outcomes
* Undertake direct work with young people and act as an appropriate role model
* Assist in developing systems in which young people are consulted about the quality of care they receive
* Assist the Registered Manager in implementing all aspects of the Statement of Purpose
* Contribute to devising, implementing and evaluating changes with involvement of front line staff to continually improve services, systems and standards with the Registered Manager and Senior Management team
* Deputise in the absence of the Registered Manager
* Support on and off the rota to ensure adequate staffing according to the needs of young people
* Ensure resources are allocated appropriately and financial records are accurately maintained
Qualifications/Experience/Requirements
* NVQ 3 in caring for Children and Young People (or equivalent)
* Understanding of Ofsted framework (SCCIF)
* 12 months experience working in a residential setting with young people with challenging behaviour including supervisory experience
* Knowledge of the Children Act and other relevant legislation
* Team Building Skills
* Supervision Skills
* Ability to manage teams effectively
* Excellent organisational skills
* Ability to motivate and enthuse staff
* A Full UK driving licence is required due to the location and nature of the role
