About Our Opportunity
As the Lead Transport Planner at EMR, you will manage a dynamic planning team to ensure seamless transport services aligned with customer requirements. Your responsibilities include supervising vehicles, trailers, containers, and LGV drivers, maintaining safety standards, and upholding our core values. What You Will Be Doing
* Represent EMR’s transport division professionally and build positive stakeholder relationships
* Coordinate with internal and external customers to resolve issues promptly
* Ensure staffing and resources are adequate for smooth operations
* Maintain regular communication with the Regional Transport Manager
* Ensure compliance with transport policies, procedures, and legislation
* Identify and implement routing and service improvements for cost reduction and customer satisfaction
* Gather stakeholder feedback for continuous improvement
Driver Management
* Supervise drivers, manage overtime, and control costs
* Oversee paperwork compliance and download driver cards and vehicle data for analysis
* Ensure compliance with driver working hours and EU regulations
* Promote health and safety through safety talks and driver briefings
* Hold regular meetings and manage training records and Driver CPC training
* Oversee driver recruitment and license checks
Vehicle Management
* Schedule vehicle inspections and maintenance
* Optimize vehicle utilization and minimize downtime
* Maintain service documentation and plan ahead
* Oversee defect checks and vehicle reports
* Ensure vehicle availability for inspections
Financial
* Manage budgets and forecasts monthly
* Plan vehicle utilization to meet cost recovery targets
* Review costs and recoveries, monitor vehicle-related expenses and driver overtime
Records & Reports
* Review and file transport records
* Log events and actions accurately
* Utilize systems like Ferian and CMS
* Produce required monthly reports
About You
* Experience in vehicle routing is essential
* Proven ability to motivate drivers and deliver quality service
* Decisive under pressure
* Knowledge of EU drivers' hours, working time directive, and O-licence obligations
* Transport Manager CPC preferred, OLAT training acceptable if no CPC
* IOSH Managing Safely desirable; IOSH Supervising Safely minimum
* Strong IT skills (MS Office, tracking, routing software)
* Valid LGV Class C or C+E license beneficial
* Knowledge of disciplinary procedures and PIPs
