Tradewind Recruitment are working in partnership with SEN schools across Lincoln and the surrounding areas. We believe that great teaching is about more than academics. We need a special teacher who can guide students with Autism and Complex Needs on their journey to independence and self-discovery.

This isn't just a teaching role; it's a chance to transform lives. You will work with students aged 11-19, providing them with the stability, guidance, and specialised education they need to thrive both academically and personally.

The Role: More Than Just a Classroom

As an SEN Teacher, you will be responsible for creating a nurturing and structured learning environment where every student feels safe, valued, and understood. Your primary focus will be on students with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) and a wide range of complex needs. Your responsibilities will include:

Tailoring Education: Designing and delivering highly differentiated and engaging lessons that meet the unique learning styles and needs of students with autism and complex needs.

Building Connections: Fostering strong, trusting relationships with students, helping them develop essential communication, social, and emotional regulation skills.

Implementing Strategies: Utilising specialised teaching strategies and therapeutic approaches to support students with sensory sensitivities, communication challenges, and varying emotional needs.

Collaborating Holistically: Working seamlessly with a multidisciplinary team, including therapists, support staff, and parents, to ensure a cohesive and holistic support system for each student.

Personalising Progress: Developing and implementing comprehensive Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and contributing to Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) to track progress and ensure all provisions are met.

Championing Potential: Inspiring a sense of self-worth and accomplishment in every student, celebrating their successes, and helping them overcome barriers to learning.

Your Essential Skills

To be successful in this vital role, you should have:

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent teaching qualification.

Specialist Experience: Proven experience working with students with Autism Spectrum Condition and complex needs, particularly within the 11-19 age range.

Deep Understanding: A strong grasp of the specific challenges and strengths associated with autism, along with knowledge of different support strategies (e.g., PECS, TEACCH, sensory integration).

Patience and Empathy: A calm, patient, and resilient approach to managing challenging situations, with a genuine desire to understand and support each student.

Collaboration: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, allowing you to build effective relationships with students, colleagues, and families.

Creativity and Adaptability: The ability to be flexible and innovative in your teaching, adapting the curriculum to meet individual needs and interests.
