Therapy Assistant – Cheswold Park Hospital – Part‑time, 30 hours per week
Overview
Join our Community Learning Disabilities Team as a Therapy Assistant and play a hands‑on role in delivering physiotherapy, speech and language therapy, and dietetic support to individuals with learning disabilities in the community.
Key Responsibilities
* Collaborate closely with therapists to implement individual therapy plans.
* Facilitate therapeutic activities tailored to clients’ unique needs, including mobility and daily living support.
* Work with health professionals, service providers and families to provide a cohesive, person‑centred approach.
* Support the team with administrative tasks such as booking appointments, managing queries and maintaining accurate clinical records in System One.
* Conduct welfare checks and calls for clients on waiting lists.
* Assist with the preparation of learning resources and manage petty cash for minor financial duties.
The Successful Applicant Will Possess
* Excellent communication skills and the ability to adapt to diverse service user needs.
* Team‑working ability and the capacity to work independently when necessary.
* High computer proficiency for documentation and resource creation.
Experience and Qualifications
* Experience providing personal care for those with health and social needs.
* Level 2 qualification or equivalent with competence at level 3.
* Care Certificate or required achieve within 12 weeks of commencement.
* Ability to work effectively in a caring environment at a band 2 level.
* Experience of supervising or inducting others (desirable).
* Current driving licence required (reasonable adjustments considered for those unable to drive).
Essential Skills and Knowledge
* Excellent customer care and communication skills.
* Good IT/keyboard skills and the ability to use observation skills to identify potential risks.
* Understanding of confidentiality, trust responsibilities and the Trust Values.
* Resilience to pressure and exposure to emotional situations.
* Demonstrated ability to work flexibly within a 24‑hour shift pattern where necessary.
Training and Development
* Willingness to undertake all Trust mandatory training and subsequent refresher training.
* Willingness to undergo job development and further study where appropriate.
