Overview

NHS Highland is seeking a newly qualified Clinical Scientist to join a small but busy department supporting specialist cancer services to the Highlands & Islands of Scotland. The department is equipped with two Varian Truebeam Linear Accelerators and a Siemens Somatom Confidence RT Pro CT Scanner. We also have access to MRI and PET-CT. The RayStation Treatment Planning system is in use and transit dosimetry via RadCalc EPID is routinely provided for all TPS-based plans. The Oncology Management System in use is currently Aria but will change to RayCare during this year.

The postholder will contribute to all routine service delivery and will have the opportunity to participate in and lead project work. The postholder will be supported and encouraged to work towards MPE accreditation.

Inverness is the capital city of the Highlands and offers a high standard of living in an area of outstanding wildlife and natural beauty, providing an ideal base for pursuing many outdoor activities within the Highlands and Islands area. Informal enquiries and visits to the Department are welcome.


Responsibilities

* Contribute to routine service delivery in the Radiotherapy Physics department.
* Participate in and lead project work related to treatment planning and radiotherapy services.
* Work towards MPE (Medical Physics Expert) accreditation with support from the department.
