Job summary

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Associate Practitioner in Cardiography to join our dynamic team at the Cardiac Investigations Centre, Hammersmith Hospital. You will support the delivery of high-quality non-invasive cardiac investigations across our busy department, which performs over 60,000 tests annually.

You will be proficient in performing 12-lead ECGs, analysing ambulatory recordings, and assisting with Exercise Treadmill Testing and Pacemaker follow-ups. Further training will be provided where needed.

Main duties of the job

1. Perform routine cardiac investigations including 12-lead ECGs, ambulatory monitoring (Holter, event monitors, and 24-hour BP), and assist with Exercise Tolerance Testing and pacemaker follow-ups.
2. Analyse and report on results of non-invasive cardiac tests with technical proficiency.
3. Support senior Cardiac Physiologists during complex procedures and contribute to a high-quality clinical service.
4. Train and supervise junior staff, participate in departmental meetings, and maintain CPD records.
5. Ensure a safe, clean, and patient-friendly environment, complying with infection control and health & safety policies.
6. Contribute to audit, research, and clinical governance activities, maintaining accurate documentation and data.
7. Communicate effectively with patients, carers, and multidisciplinary teams, showing sensitivity and professionalism.

Job responsibilities

As an Associate Practitioner in Cardiography, you will be a key member of the non-invasive cardiac investigations team, supporting the delivery of over 60,000 tests annually across the Trust. You will perform a range of routine cardiac investigations, assist senior physiologists in complex procedures, and contribute to the training and supervision of junior staff. This role requires technical proficiency, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to high standards of patient care.

Key ResponsibilitiesClinical Duties
* Perform 12-lead ECGs on patients of all ages across the hospital.
* Fit, remove, and analyse ambulatory monitors (Holter, event monitors, 24-hour BP).
* Assist with Exercise Tolerance Testing and pacemaker follow-ups.
* Generate and interpret reports for GP-requested ECGs.
* Maintain high standards of technical competency and patient care.
Service Quality & Efficiency
* Ensure a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for patients and staff.
* Follow Trust policies and procedures, including infection control and health & safety.
* Support colleagues in challenging situations and escalate issues appropriately.
* Communicate sensitively with patients, carers, and multidisciplinary teams.
Supervisory & Educational Duties
* Maintain CPD records and comply with professional codes of conduct.
* Participate in training and mentoring of junior Cardiographers and healthcare assistants.
* Demonstrate initiative in developing personal and professional expertise.
* Undertake necessary training including Intermediate Life Support (ILS).
Clinical Governance, Research & Audit
* Assist in data capture, audit, and research activities.
* Maintain accurate documentation and contribute to statistical analysis.
* Support research ethics and follow study-specific procedures.
* Promote high standards of record keeping and clinical governance.
General & Professional Responsibilities
* Uphold patient confidentiality and professional integrity.
* Manage and prioritise workload effectively.
* Ensure safe use and maintenance of equipment.
