We currently employ around 200 staff across our organisation and operate facilities, hospitality, entertainment and support services 7 days a week.
Purpose
The Tech Crew team member is a position within the Hospitality and Events team.
DUSA has recently been expanding the repertoire of events and often collaborates with student groups to deliver student-led club nights and other events.
The Tech Crew team member will work under the direction of the Tech Supervisor to support with the design, set-up, operation and dismantling sound, light, AV equipment, staging, décor and props.
This is an ideal role for someone who is creative and likes to use a variety of skills. There will be training and development opportunities.
The Role
* To set up, operate and dismantle sound, light, AV equipment, staging, décor, and props.
* To comply with departmental health and safety TRAs and approved codes of practice.
* To ensure the cleaning, maintenance, storage, and security of equipment.
* To report defective or missing equipment.
* To load in and load out performers', contractors', and clients' equipment.
* Carry out any other appropriate duties which may be considered necessary by line management.
The Person
* Experience of sound/light/AV/staging for events.
* Confident in manual-handling and working at height.
* Experience of working with power tools.
* Understanding of Health and Safety and electrical safety.
* Flexibility to working hours, with ability to work late nights and weekends.
* IT literate.
* Resourceful with highly developed problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
* Adaptable, accommodating, helpful and able to respond promptly and effectively to emerging issues.
* Can do attitude and team player.
* Take initiative on self-development to update and develop your skills and abilities.
Qualifications/Knowledge/Experience
Essential
* AV (or associated technology) or theatre design experience.
* Health and safety knowledge.
* Commitment to Equality, Diversity and Inclusion.
* Ability to work flexible hours.
Hours of Work
This is a variable hours, hourly paid role, with no more than 20 hours per week for students to avoid compromising academic commitment.
Much of the work will include evening, late nights, and weekend hours.
Salary
This is a Grade 1 role, and the rate is currently £12.21 per hour.
No additional payments or allowances and no contractual entitlement to overtime.
