HUC is seeking to appoint an exceptional operational leader to the newly created post of Operations Assurance Director, a role that will play a critical role in the next stage of our growth and impact. This is a rare opportunity to take on a position of significant responsibility in a dynamic and values led organisation delivering urgent and primary care services to more than 4.5 million people across the East and South West of England.
As a clinically led social enterprise, HUC provides services including NHS 111, urgent treatment centres, out-of-hours care, clinical assessment and dentistry. We manage more than two million patient contacts each year and work in close partnership with commissioners, Integrated Care Systems and local partners to deliver safe, effective and compassionate care at scale. Our ambition is both to deliver on today’s demands while evolving as a trusted, agile organisation capable of leading innovation and integration across the urgent and primary care landscape.
The Operations Assurance Director will be our most senior operational leader with responsibility for the day-to-day delivery of services across multiple regions. You will bring structure, clarity and pace to our operating model, ensuring consistency, accountability and financial discipline, while creating the conditions for sustainable improvement. You will be visible across our services, providing strong leadership for our teams and embedding a culture of transparency, collaboration and high performance. You will be skilled at culture change, enabling us to reset how we work, challenging legacy thinking and helping us grow well as we scale.
You will report directly to the Chief Commercial and Delivery Officer and work closely with colleagues across the Executive Team and Board. Together, you will ensure that operational performance is aligned to our strategy, our values and the expectations of commissioners, regulators and, above all, our patients. You will also play an important external role, strengthening the credibility and influence of HUC with commissioners and system partners, and demonstrating our commitment to collaboration and system-wide improvement.
We are looking for a values-driven, ambitious leader with substantial experience of managing complex services in a 24/7 environment. You will combine operational grip with strategic perspective and bring a track record of delivering large-scale change, improving performance and building cohesive teams. You will have the credibility to influence at Board level and across systems, as well as the curiosity and courage to challenge and improve the way things are done. Above all, you will be motivated by the opportunity to make a tangible difference for patients, colleagues and communities.
