Our client is looking to recruit a highly capable Technical Lead to oversee Python, FastAPI, React, TypeScript, AWS, CI/CD, and DevOps automation; to take ownership of the technical direction, architecture, and engineering quality of a modern product environment. This is a hands-on leadership role where you'll combine deep technical expertise with architectural oversight and team guidance to help shape scalable, secure, and maintainable systems.
The Technical Lead will work across backend services, frontend applications, cloud infrastructure, CI/CD, integrations, and operational tooling, ensuring engineering delivery remains aligned with both product goals and long-term architectural direction.
The role - Technical Lead to oversee Python, FastAPI, React, TypeScript, AWS, CI/CD, and DevOps automation:
As the senior technical authority within the product team, you'll lead on solution design, engineering standards, and technical decision-making across the full technology stack. This role requires someone comfortable operating at both strategic and hands-on levels - from guiding architecture and reviewing designs through to debugging complex production issues and supporting critical deliveries.
The Technical Lead will play a key role in improving technical consistency, managing technical debt, and driving best practice across engineering, DevOps, observability, security, and integration patterns.
Key responsibilities for the Technical Lead - Python, FastAPI, React, TypeScript, AWS, CI/CD, and DevOps automation:
1. Own the technical integrity and architecture of the product
2. Translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions
3. Drive architectural decisions across APIs, services, integrations, and cloud infrastructure
4. Provide leadership across backend, frontend, DevOps, and data integration workstreams
5. Champion engineering quality including testing, security, observability, and operational readiness
6. Support engineers with complex technical challenges and incident resolution
7. Lead root-cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives
8. Partner closely with platform and DevOps teams on CI/CD and deployment strategies
9. Ensure technical debt is identified, prioritised, and managed effectively
10. Maintain high-quality architecture documentation and technical standards
11. Contribute to planning, estimation, and technical delivery discussions
Skills and Capabilities for the Technical Lead - Python, FastAPI, React, TypeScript, AWS, CI/CD, and DevOps automation:
12. Hands-on experience with Python and FastAPI
13. Frontend experience using React and TypeScript
14. Excellent knowledge of AWS services including Lambda, ECS, RDS, DynamoDB, API Gateway, S3, IAM, and CloudWatch
15. Experience designing and supporting event-driven architectures
16. Understanding of CI/CD, Docker, infrastructure-as-code, and deployment automation
17. Knowledge of observability, monitoring, tracing, and operational resilience
18. Solid understanding of secure system design and modern security principles
19. Proven experience leading technical design and delivery within complex production environments
20. Ability to influence technical direction and communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Qualifications / Experience:
* Proven experience leading technical design and engineering delivery for complex systems in production
* Experience translating ambiguous or evolving requirements into clear architecture and implementation decisions
* Demonstrated depth in one or more core areas such as backend, cloud, or DevOps, with enough breadth to lead across the full stack
* Hands-on experience with Python, FastAPI, React, TypeScript, and AWS
* Experience working in Agile engineering environments with modern CI/CD
* Experience supporting live systems, leading technical incident analysis, and improving resilience over time
* Able to balance long-term technical direction with immediate delivery needs
