Housing Support Officer – 6 Month Contract - 28 Hours Per Week - £16-£18/hr (Umbrella)

This Housing Support Officer position offers the chance to support vulnerable customers across a supported housing setting in Middlesbrough, helping them to build independence, improve wellbeing, and live safely in a secure and welcoming environment. The role operates on a rolling contract, providing consistent and stable work at £16 - £18 per hour via umbrella, working 28 hours per week.
As a Housing Support Officer, you’ll be delivering person-centred support, working closely with individuals to develop tailored support plans, promote safety, and empower them to take positive steps forward. You’ll provide both one-to-one and group support while ensuring the service remains safe, compliant, and customer-focused.
We’d love to hear from anyone with experience as a Housing Support Officer, Support Service Worker, Housing Support Officer, Tenancy Support Officer, or anyone who has supported vulnerable people within housing, social care, or community environments.
As a Housing Support Officer, your key responsibilities will include:
1. Delivering daily support and creating a safe, secure environment for customers
2. Developing support plans around housing, benefits, safety, budgeting, and wellbeing
3. Encouraging independence and confidence through one-to-one sessions and group activities
4. Managing safeguarding concerns and completing risk assessments
5. Working independently within a lone-working setting while contributing to the wider team
We’re interested in anyone who has:
6. Experience supporting vulnerable client groups
7. A good understanding of safeguarding, risk management, and support planning
8. Strong communication skills and a person-centred approach
9. Good IT skills and the ability to maintain accurate records

Shift Pattern:
Monday–Friday, 9:00am–6:00pm, with shifts scheduled to total 28 hours per week.
Location and travel
This role is based in Middlesbrough and is easily accessible by major public transport routes, including local bus links and key road networks. It is suitable for candidates travelling from Middlesbrough, Stockton-on-Tees, Redcar, Hartlepool, Darlington, Thornaby, Billingham, and Guisborough. Free or easily available parking is offered depending on shift.
