From March to October you'll be living and working with a small team in the iconic blue Lifeboat House on Blakeney Point. Access to Blakeney Point is tide-dependent, so you’ll use a boat and 4x4 vehicle to get around. Planning your days off and supermarket trips takes a bit of strategy, but it’s all part of the adventure.From November to March, you’ll be based at Blakeney and occasionally support colleagues at Brancaster and Horsey. During this time, you’ll find your own accommodation on the mainland and work with the countryside team to manage the breeding grey seal colony, while also supporting office work that prepares for the summer season.Your summer role is varied and hands-on. You’ll prepare for the arrival of nesting seabirds by installing electric fencing, signage, and miles of pin and rope to guide visitors safely around sensitive areas. Predator control is also a key responsibility, along with enforcing dog restrictions to protect wildlife during critical breeding seasons. Once the birds arrive, your focus shifts to monitoring and surveying, and engaging positively with visitors and volunteers to build understanding and support for conservation. You’ll also support the onboarding and development of the Seasonal Assistant Ranger, helping them settle into life on the Point and build confidence in their role as part of the team.In winter, the Point transforms into the UK’s largest breeding grey seal colony. You’ll be based on the mainland and help manage visitor safety and reduce disturbance by working closely with volunteers, as well as support scrub clearance and site presentation, along with office-based tasks.
