We’re working to improve the lives of people in Somerset - and you’ll be a key part of that. Your day-to-day work will involve:
* Assisting the Building Surveyor team in a range of building surveying duties for the council, to help to ensure that the council’s estate is managed and developed effectively
* Assisting with site inspections to review defects and compliance issues
* Assisting with scoping and specifying repair, remedial and capital improvement works for delivery by internal or external trades
* Preparing plans and drawings for proposed works using AutoCAD where required
The role will require frequent travel across Somerset, with lone working subject to risk assessments.

You’ll gain hands-on experience of using information and data to support the delivery of Council services and improve outcomes for local people. The Business Intelligence Team supports the delivery of Council Services through data analysis, intelligence, and insight. Apprentices will gain knowledge and experience of data analysis tools and techniques using various databases and reporting systems.

Training to be Provided
You will be required to enroll on an Apprenticeship training course - Chartered Surveyor (degree) (level 6). Apprentices will complete a Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) accredited BSc (Honours) degree. The postholder will also need to enroll on the RICS APC and work towards full RICS membership.
