Summary Allens Auto Services have a fantastic opportunity for a highly motivated person to join their company based in Cheadle Heath near Stockport. A great opportunity for someone interested in Auto trades who ideally has a level 1 or 2 diploma. Wage £15,704 for your first year, then could increase depending on your age National Minimum Wage rate for apprentices Check minimum wage rates (opens in new tab) Training course Autocare technician (level 2) Hours Monday - Friday, 8.00am - 6.00pm 40 hours a week Start date Monday 8 September 2025 Duration 2 years 6 months Positions available 1 Work Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience. What you'll do at work The successful applicant will be expected to learn about the following: Keeping the workshop clean & tidy How to use tools & equipment used in Vehicle Maintenance & Repair You will assist other technicians with their work whilst receiving on the job training Tyre legislation and technical information Fundamentals of specific vehicle systems including steering & suspension, braking systems, battery & charging systems, exhaust systems and Air-Conditioning systems Vehicle 4-wheel geometry principles Basic consumer legislation relevant to the occupation Appropriate Health & Safety legislation and requirements for the workplace Hybrid/Electric Vehicle system and safe working procedures How to carry out vehicle safety inspections and routine maintenance using manufacturers specifications or approved schedules, using vehicle specific data and meeting legal requirements Successful completion of this apprenticeship will lead to progression to a Level 3 Light Vehicle Technician Apprenticeship. Prepare the vehicle and working area before the work activity. For example, remove or mitigate slip and trip hazards. Maintain and restore the work area during and on completion of the activity. Store, maintain, including calibration checks, and return tools and equipment to storage. Access vehicle technical data to inform inspections and make judgements on wear and serviceability. Comply with environmental and sustainability procedures, regulations, standards, and guidance. Segregate resources for reuse, recycling, and disposal. Apply vehicle safety inspection and routine maintenance procedures using vehicle specific data on car, car derived van or light goods vehicle. Select and use tools and equipment, mechanical and electrical measuring tools, and diagnostic equipment. Remove and replace vehicle tyre and balance wheel assemblies on car, car derived van or light goods vehicle. For example, ultra-low profile, directional, asymmetric, run-flat tyres. Record vehicle service maintenance, parts replacement, or repair. Apply customer service principles and organisational customer care practices. Provide quotation of cost and order automotive parts, products, and consumables applicable to the vehicle. Apply procedures for stock and parts storage: ordering, checking and stock rotation.
