SENIOR HYDROLOGIST

New year, new job. Are you a Senior Hydrologist looking to take ownership of flood risk and drainage projects while remaining part of a supportive, technically strong team? This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing consultancy where your expertise will directly influence project delivery and client outcomes.
You will be based in the Edinburgh office, working closely with a local team while contributing to projects across Scotland and the wider UK. The role offers exposure to a broad mix of public and private sector developments, providing flood risk, drainage and water environment input wherever clients require support, all within a flexible hybrid working arrangement.
The role
As a Senior Hydrologist, you will lead technical delivery while supporting team development and client engagement.
Key responsibilities include:
* Leading Flood Risk Assessments and drainage strategies
* Providing technical input to modelling and sustainable drainage solutions
* Working closely with clients, local authorities and key stakeholders
* Ensuring compliance with legislation, standards and best practice
* Mentoring junior staff on technical and project delivery matters
* Supporting tenders, fee proposals and business development activity
About you
This role suits a capable Senior Hydrologist ready to progress.
You will ideally have:
* A degree in hydrology, hydrogeology, civil or environmental engineering
* 3 to 5 years' post-qualification experience in flood risk or drainage
* Chartered status or progression toward it
* Experience using FEH, Flood Modeller, HEC-RAS, Causeway Flow and AutoCAD
* Strong communication and leadership skills
